Plot Diagram for Animal Farm
1.
Old Major assembled the animals and he told stories of
a utopia where animals were in charge, man non-existent, food was plentiful, and
where all animals were equal.
2.
Old major brought up plans of rebellion against Mr.
Jones to bring the farm into animal control.
3.
A few days later old major died, but his words were
still fresh in everyone’s mind
4.
With leadership from some of the other pigs on the
farm, the animals rebelled against Mr. Jones and took Manor Farm
5.
The farm was renamed Animal Farm, and the pigs wrote
the 7 commandments on the side of the barn. Whatever
goes upon two legs is an enemy.
Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
No animal shall wear clothes.
No animal shall sleep in a bed
No animal shall drink alcohol
No animal shall kill any other animal
All animals are equal

Jones returned, with help, to take
back farm. But Snowball, with the help of books about Julius Ceasar, were able
to hold the humans off of their farm.
11.
Snowball began pushing for a windmill
to be built on the farm. Napoleon opposed.
12.
When giving speeches, Napoleon called in his dogs to
chase Snowball off of the farm.
13.
Napoleon started to take a leadership
role that involved making decisions without consulting the other animals
14.
Napoleon has Squealer preach that
Napoleon was always for the windmill and that it would be completed after all
15.
With the help of Boxer and his heavy
lifting, the animals completed the windmill
16.
Shortly afterwards, the windmill
collapsed, Napoleon blamed it on Snowball
17.
Napoleon killed all the animals who
confessed their loyalty to Snowball
18.
The windmill got completed
19.
One of the neighbouring farmers,
Frederick, showed up at Animal Farm with many men and tried to take over the
farm.
20.
The men were able to blow up the
windmill before the animals were able to get them off of the farm
21.
It was decided that the windmill
would be rebuilt yet again
22.
As Boxer was bringing boulders from
the quarry, he fell and hurt himself
23.
The pigs decided to sell Boxer to a
glue company. By the time the animals found out , it was too late to save their
beloved Boxer.
24.
Squealer told the farm that Boxer was
treated with as much care as possible in efforts to keep a horse alive
25.
The pigs invited other farmers over
to the farmhouse
26.
The pigs were walking two legs,
drinking beer, and confronting man
27.
They also removed the hoof and horn
from the flag of the farm.
28.
In addition, the name was reverted
back to “Manor Farm”
29.
Finally, Animalism was abolished and
everything was as it was originally.

I am From Poem
I am from where you would most expect it
From many majestic maple trees
Inside our cozy complex
I am from viciously eating hot pancakes on the table
To the refreshing walks to school
I am from frigid cold ice rinks
From dedication and perfect practice makes perfect
I am from tremendous victories and devastating, demeaning, defeats
From warm, spring downfall
To scorching summer heat on my late July birthday
I am from succulent, cimamony, homemade apple pie
I am from loving, large, family get togethers
And silently listening to the Beatles soothingly
On
those long, friendly drives with my dad
So many moments I was glad to have had
I am from many Playoff disappointments
And the rare miraculous comeback
I am from working with 110% effort until my brain is jello coming out of
my ears
From a clink when we are
saying “Cheers”
To the relaxing feel of a PlayStation controller in my hand on a weekend
morning
I am from “good night pumpkin”
Fist pumps with my dad
And not to mention
I am from my little childhood bedroom on the 3rd floor

ROBERT FROST
1. I think the “fork in the road” symbolizes decisions in life. You have to pick a direction to take your life, and the choice is always your own.
2. As the first line says, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood” I would assume the season is autumn.
3. The poet decides which road to take based on the one that was less traveled by to be on his own path
4. I link the one less travelled by is the way of life that is more unique. The way of life that doesn’t just try to fit in with its surroundings. The line about it making all the difference is interesting. Living a unique life that you can be proud of definetly makes a difference compared to one that is alrea dy pathed out.
5. I think the poet is sorry he couldn’t travel both roads because he is adventurous. He wants to know what destination both paths would take. Again, if he was symbolizing life with the roads, it would make sense that you can’t travel both.

JOHN LENNON
1. John Lennon was trying to tell the world to imagine what life could be like without everything that is bad in the world.
2. Music helps make the entire thing more memorable. Every time the tune comes on, you know what you are listening to.

Hockey Slam Poem
I always
have people asking me, “Why do you play hockey?”
You think
it’s weird that I play hockey? You think it’s weird that I get joy out of
hearing the ping of a post, or the roar of a crowd? What about you? You play
basketball, soccer, football? That’s fine, but let it be known, us hockey
players, we don’t like playing with balls. And you know what, screw YOLO; live
free, dangle hard; that’s a real motto.
You think
it’s weird that we play for the boys, not for the stats? Name me 5 soccer
players who do that. We don’t care about bumps, bruises, and cuts, those are
our battle scars. You think it’s weird that we celly every chance I get? Why
not? Who doesn’t love a good one knee slide after a bar down snipe? Oh that’s
right, all of you who didn’t understand what I just said, that’s who. You think
it’s weird that I stand in front of solid rubber at 100 + KM/h? I’ll let you
know that that may be more enjoyable that sleeping. Yea, I went there.
You think
it’s weird that that my sport is locked out? Well, all that means is more time
for the boys to go downtown and wheel some dimes. And, no, that has nothing to
do with money. You think it’s weird that
we throw punches out on the ice? That’s because we all love a good goon show. Nothing makes you wanna throw sauce and snipe
Genos’s more than seeing your teammate eat fists for the good of the team. For the boys, we do everything for the boys.
Whether
you’re a forward, d-man, or tendy, whether Canadian, American, Swedish or
Russian, us hockey players are united. No matter what you say. You think it’s
weird that I play hockey? Well I think it’s weird that you don’t. And I have a
group of greasy goons who agree.

Euthanasia Essay
Imagine the Worst
Imagine you are in
excruciating pain, barely living with a terminal illness, lying in a vegetative
state, and suffering in a hospital bed. Imagine being surrounded by family
members who want nothing more than to see your torture end. In the poem
"David", a situation where euthanasia was used occurred. A
mountain climber lost his foothold while trying to help his friend and fellow
climber steady. He fell 50 feet to the ledge beneath. After being paralyzed instantaneously,
he asked his friend to push him into the cliff below and end his life. The real
world argument on the topic is fierce. Euthanasia should legalized in Canada
because nearly all the potential issues could be avoided if it is enforced and
completed properly, people who meet certain criteria have to opportunity to be
euthanized if they can’t kill themselves on their own, and so years of pain,
suffering , and agony can be avoided.
If euthanasia can be
enforced and completed properly, it will not be abused. The act of assisted
suicide in the poem David is a perfect example of an improper conduction
of euthanasia conferring to the laws of where it is legal. Countries such as
Switzerland, Belgium, and the Netherlands all have legalized euthanasia. Rules
are set to require doctors to assist in the suicide and to have other people
present when conducted. Euthanasia specific doctors would not be charged for
murder for mercy killing with patient permission. If completed as in the poem David
charges can, and will be pressed on those involved. Assisted suicide should be
treated as any other major health procedure; it should be left to the
professionals. But these doctors will not just euthanize anyone; criteria will
be needed to be met.
"Close
your eyes and imagine that you are in a vegetable state and the pain is
unbearable, and you can’t take it anymore. The state your brain is in won’t let
you talk, but lets you lay there in bed and enthral the pain. Medicines can
only help for a little while, but it can’t take the pain away forever."
-castiel from Mibba.com. That was an interesting quote that was posted
online. The type of person described in this quote is the kind of person who
would be a perfect applicant for euthanasia. Some say death is a coward’s way
out. Many others will disagree. Embracing the fact that you will die is the bravest
act in battling a terminal illness. In David, the title character knew
he would be paralysed for the rest of his life. To him, he realised that his
life would not be worth living. David knew that the way he would have to live
as a quadriplegic at the time was not nearly what we have today in 2012. He
felt he had no choice. He asked to be killed. He would have done it himself if
he could. Why is it that fully able people are allowed to commit suicide, but
those who physically cannot do it on their own don’t have the right to commit
suicide? Is that undervaluing the wants and needs of the disabled? Let that
sink in for a bit.
With euthanasia legalized,
years of pain, suffering, and agony of thousands of terminally ill patients and
their families would be avoided. Terminal illness is described as a disease that cannot be cured or adequately treated and
that is reasonably expected to result in the death of the patient within a short period of time
(Wikipedia.com). If death is inevitable, why not let the patient go out
on their own terms without suffering? There are people who don’t want to be
remembered in the suffering state that they may be in. dying without pain is
something that personally I wish I could have experience with family members.
Although hospice and hospitals can reduce pain, they can’t stop it. Not to
mention those are expensive. It can be pricey to keep someone in constant care
or life support. Not only will more money be opened up for other patients, but
families of the terminally ill can save some money of their own. Yet money is
just an object. Sorrow is not. Seeing your loved one, slowly, painfully dying
from a disease they couldn’t even control. You know that they want it to end.
YOU want it to end. You want nothing more than to see them die peace.
With euthanasia becoming
legalized in Canada, not only will it benefit the terminally ill and their
families, but doctors, hospitals, and the general public too. With specific
guidelines as laid out in Switzerland, Belgium, and the Netherlands, euthanasia
would not be abused. The agony felt to the bone by terminally ill patients in
hospices and home around the country would be easily and readily avoided. Times
are changing, and we need to be changing with the times.

Essay Planning and Intro
Planning
Arguement:I am for euthanasia
Body Topics:
1. How it needs to be enforced and completed
2. Who can qualify
3. What can be avoided by euthanasia
Thesis:
If euthanasia is legalized in Canada, it needs to be enforced and completed properly, people need to qualify with certain criteria, and if done properly, years of pain, suffering, and agony can and will be avoided.
Introduction
Imagine you are in excruciating pain, barely living with a terminal illness, lying in a vegetative state, and suffering in a hospital bed. Imagine being surrounded by family members who want nothing more than to see your torture end. The poem "David", a situation where euthanasia was used occurred. A mountain climber lost his foothold and fell 50 feet to the ledge below. After being paralyzed instantly, he asked his friend to put him into the cliff below and end his life. He didn't want to suffer his whole life being held away from what he loved to do most. Although I agree with the concept, I did not like how the whole process was handled. That is why, if euthanasia is legalized in Canada, it needs to be enforced and completed properly, people need to qualify with certain criteria, and if done properly, years of pain, suffering, and agony can and will be avoided.

"David" Questions
"DAVID" QUESTIONS
2. Bob and David decided to finally climb The Finger. It had been talked about all summer, and in September they decided to make the difficult climb.
3. They began to approach The Finger on a crisp night. Morning came around after spotting the bighorns. After reaching the base of The Finger, the boys climbing for an hour to go up one hundred feet of the peak.
4. As Bobbie's food hold crumbles, David reached over and steadied Bobbie. As he moved over, his foot hold gave and he feel 50 feet to a ledge below. Bobbie had found that David was seriously hurt and couldn't move anything other than his head.
5. David asked Bobbie to push him off the ledge to his certain death as he did not want to live as a quadriplegic.
6. Although not directly stated, it can be obviously assumed that this happened as Bobbie went to the nearby town and told the residents that David had fallen all the way from the peak, to the crevasse below.
QUESTION TIME
a) I do agree with Bob actions in theory. David decided that he didn't want to suffer for the rest of his life; to give up doing what he loved most. Although in practice, the way it went down was a bit shady. He pushed him off at David's own decision but Bobbie had told the people in town a lie to cover it up. Technically (knowing the location of the story being in the Rocky Mountains of North America) what Bobbie did was illegal, meaning it needed a cover up.
b) I think the story was put into poetic form to really highlight the qualities and personality of David. He was wise, strong, and well knowledgeable. Those qualities make for good poetic devices to be used.
c) The poetic devices keep the reader engaged so that they don't miss very many little details in the story / poem.
d) Nature in the poem is what David lives for. It is also the reason he died. It shows that the world is a tough place and that sometimes things don't go the way they are supposed to.
e) One example of foreshadowing was when Bob found the injured bird. He helped it calm down, but David encouraged him to leave it because he couldn't help learn to fly. The same situation would soon happen with David in place of the bird. There was also the dead goat that had fallen off of a cliff. This also would soon happen to David.
f) There were many circumstances in the poem where personification was used. Many involved the mountains and sky. I think that the personification helps show that even though Bob pushed David over, it was the nature that killed him.'
POETIC DEVICES
What really helped me get interested in the poem was the personification of the nature as well as the foreshadowing with nature. The bird and mountain goat both got me thinking as to what could happen next.

Robert Latimer Article
Link to the article:
http://my43.sd43.bc.ca/class/rhethey/English%2010%20DI%20Documents/Robert%20Latimer%20Article.pdf
After reading the 2004 Vancouver Sun article I have learned the story about Robert Latimer and his daughter, Tracy, who was living with cerebral palsy. Robert Latimer had killed Tracy out of what he thought as bringing her peace. I also was able to read about how the jury did not want to give Latimer 10 years in prison, but were not able to grant any less. Many church organizations however disagreed with what was thought by the jury and believed he should be treated as a full on murderer. The reason that he must be sentenced 10 years despite the jury's opinions is because he was charged with 2nd degree murder, which in Canada consists of at least 10 years in prison, no excuses. I had known that assisted suicide is illegal in Canada, and this act performed by Latimer would have fit into that category.
To better understand what went down, I needed to do some background research. I wanted to know how the killing happened, and what Robert is doing right now. First I took a look on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Latimer), here I found that as of 2010, he has been granted full parole. Also, I learned how the killing happened. He used car exhaust to execute the killing. A few more things became evident as I read on. Apparently, Tracy was supposed to undergo surgery to put rods into her back; she would also need to be fed by feeding tubes. In a survey conducted in 1999, there was over 70% of Canadians who thought that Robert Latimer should be let off easier than what he was sentenced to. And finally, rock icon Ozzy Osbourne created a song entitled "Latimer's Mercy" on his 2010 album, Scream.
I had a few more questions about how assisted suicide was viewed around the world. After a few Google searches, I found (http://www.wrtl.org/assistedsuicide/assistedsuicide/whereitislegalWorld.aspx). Here gave a list of all countries where assisted suicide is currently legal, and where assisted suicide is on the verge of becoming legal. Canada finds itself on that list. Although slightly outdated, the comment explains that the Canadian Hospice Society has decide to not pursue the topic and take a neutral stand. It is currently legal (at the time of the page's release) in, Switzerland, Belgium, Columbia, and Luxembourg.
